Guided Horse Rides to Longshaw Estate, National Trust

Explore one of the Peak District’s most breathtaking landscapes on horseback with our guided rides to Longshaw Estate, National Trust. Perfect for confident riders bringing their own horses, these routes offer stunning moorland views, ancient woodland trails and peaceful open stretches ideal for a memorable day in the saddle.

Lizzie & Muddles know the area inside out. You’ll enjoy a friendly, relaxed pace with plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery and capture photos along the way.

Whether you’re looking to ride in new environments, discover new off-road routes, or simply enjoy an unforgettable experience with your horse, our Longshaw rides are a fantastic way to do it safely and sociably.

The terrain is great, with surfaced tracks along the way. The terrain is varied and Lizzie will guide you over grassy land which can be muddy. You may also come across livestock, such as cows and sheep which you will be riding alongside them in the fields. They are very much used to horse riders and our experience of riding through them are that they are not interested in us. We do also come to a few gates along the way, these will be opened for you.

The ride is a walk & trot ride ONLY

**There is road work along busy roads as well as a busy road crossing where horses do need to be patient as we may have to stand for an opening in the traffic**

**Although this ride is a walk & trot only ride, it isn't ideal for nervous and novice riders** All riders must be confident and competent in heavy traffic.

Children are welcome to join this ride when accompanied by a parent, provided both are confident riding in traffic

The amount of road work is relatively small, but these roads are quite busy.

We guide you through the Longshaw Estate car park to start, which at times can be busy with people.

Parking is in a car park attached to a pub/restaurant and although they have allowed us to park free of charge, I would encourage all riders to please support their business and maybe pop in for a quick drink or a bite to eat if safe to do so.

Vehicles up to 3.5 ton welcome. Larger vehicles will struggle with space.

The What3words coordinates for parking & meeting point are - ///mole.counts.lion

Please remember to pick up after you and your horse within the car park. There are no mounting blocks available please bring along your own.

Meets times - Sat 8th Nov - 9am

Fri 14th Nov - 10am

Please bring along appropriate clothing and tools to pick up after your horse

All rides are subject to change if we deem the weather to be unfit.

Join us and see why riders love exploring Longshaw Estate on horseback — a true gem of the Peak District National Park.
