Located in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales near Matlock and Ashbourne, Carsington Water is one of the most spectacular guided horse riding destinations in Derbyshire — and on horseback it is absolutely breathtaking.

This is a mostly off-road guided hack around the gorgeous Carsington Water reservoir, led by our wonderful guide Katy. Wide open reservoir tracks, stunning Derbyshire Dales scenery, varied terrain and a real sense of space and freedom that you just can't get anywhere else. Whether you're an experienced rider looking for a longer adventure or simply want to explore somewhere completely new on horseback, this ride delivers.

The route is mostly off-road with a couple of quiet road crossings which Katy will manage safely — so you can relax and soak up the incredible scenery. There are brilliant opportunities for long trots and canters along the reservoir tracks, making this a really satisfying, flowing guided hack for confident horses and riders.
