Guided Group Hack — Sett Valley Trail, Hayfield (with Katy)

Something a little bit special, and brand new for us — a proper guided group hack along the gorgeous Sett Valley Trail at Hayfield, led by our lovely new ride leader Katy.

Think flat, easy-going old railway line winding through woodland — the kind of ride where you can actually relax, take it all in and have a good natter as you go. It’s a small group, just six riders maximum, so it stays calm and sociable, with Katy keeping everyone together at a steady walk and trot.

You’ll be in the saddle for around an hour and a half, with a well-earned coffee-and-cake stop partway round at Emma’s Sett Valley Cafe (allow roughly two hours all in — because nobody’s rushing the cake 🍰).

It’s a public trail, so you’ll pass the odd dog walker or cyclist, a few gates and one quiet road crossing — but there’s nothing to worry about. Katy will manage all the gates and hold them open for you, and the whole route is really chilled and even, perfect for building confidence in you or your horse.

What to Bring / Good to Know

• 🐴 A headcollar and lead rope to pop over the top of your bridle — the cafe has tie rings so you can secure your horse safely while you enjoy your break
• ✔ You’ll need to be comfortable in walk and trot in a small group, out on a public trail with gates and a road crossing
• ✔ Best suited to sensible, steady horses happy to hack out in company
